More than 600 NPOs with a bingo licence organize bingo activities in halls connected to the Société des bingos du Québec (SBQ) network. These NPOs work in various sectors, such as healthcare, the community sector and social services, to name just a few. All of the proceeds generated by the sale of network bingo products are distributed to participating NPOs.
Every time you play network bingo, you are contributing to several worthy causes.
The hall manager is responsible for overseeing all activities taking place at the hall where bingo events are held. To offer network bingo products, the hall manager must be bound to the SBQ by an agreement to that effect. The hall manager receives a commission of 8% of net network bingo sales at the hall in question. It is worth noting that the hall manager may also be an NPO or a group of NPOs.
As a proud partner of the bingo industry in Québec, the Société des bingos du Québec created a prize in 2009 in honour of the late Michel Hupé, who founded the SBQ and was its General Manager for more than a decade.
This award recognizes the contribution of actors in the bingo industry to its development and proliferation. This annual SBQ initiative rewards the work of people like Michel Hupé who give pride of place to the industry's social mandate, which is to support non-profit organizations (NPOs) for whom bingo is a source of financing.
In addition to being featured in an article published in the corporation's various magazines, laureates receive an honorary prize and a cheque in the amount of $1,000.
