Loto-Québec > Responsible Gaming > Self-exclusion Program
With the opening of the province’s first casino in 1993, the Société des casinos du Québec also implemented a self-exclusion program, the first of its kind in North America. Its success has since inspired similar programs in other Canadian and U.S. casinos.
Players can request to be denied access to Québec’s casinos and gaming halls for a predetermined period ranging from three months to five years. The program is confidential, bilingual and free of charge. Once registered, players cannot withdraw from the program. Those wishing to take part in the program are asked to visit the Customer Service desk at any of the casinos or gaming halls.
The program was enhanced in 2007 with the addition of professional counselling services, and players who so desire may have access to these services for the duration of their self-exclusion. Upon expiry of the contract, the player will be invited to participate in an evaluation and information session so as to be able to make the best decision on this matter.
It is also possible to arrange for self-exclusion from the casinos or Ludoplex at any of the gaming establishments and at Loto-Québec's head office, Loto-Québec's office in Québec City and at certain treatment centres in the province. The centres are: La Maison Jean Lapointe in Montréal, Centre CASA in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, the Centre de réadaptation Ubald-Villeneuve in Beauport, Centre de réadaptation Domrémy Mauricie/Centre-du-Québec and Centre Jellinek.
