Gaming Halls: Encouraging Responsible Gaming Behaviour

In every sector of activity at Loto‑Québec, concrete measures for the promotion of responsible gaming have been developed and applied in every sector of activity at Loto-Québec. Here are the measures that have been implemented at gaming halls:

  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in gaming areas.
  • There are no ATMs in gaming areas.
  • No credit of any kind is granted
  • No gaming-related ads targeting the general public are permitted outside the halls.
  • A self-exclusion program is available.
  • Dress code is enforced.
  • A moderation and awareness message is displayed on electronic gaming machines and video lottery terminals; it includes the 1 866 767-JEUX (5389) toll free help line number.
  • An explanatory menu on the random nature of the results and certain erroneous perceptions about games of chance is displayed on video lottery terminals.
  • Self-evaluation consoles along with the Your Player Profile in 8 Questions brochure are strategically placed.
  • The presence of an Au centre du hasard information kiosk hosted four hours a week by an organization specializing in informing and sensitizing the clientele on responsible gaming.
  • A crisis/distress intervention service is available.
  • Access is prohibited for individuals under the age of 18.
  • Casino and gaming hall employees are prohibited from playing in either of the establishments.
  • Mandatory attendance by personnel at ongoing compulsive gambling sensitivity workshops is required.
