Hilton Lac-Leamy and Casino du Lac-Leamy certified BOMA BESt
Montréal, December 3, 2008 – During the first BOMA BESt certification awards that took place in Montréal on November 27, 2008, the Hilton Lac-Leamy
was certified BOMA BESt Level 2, while the Casino du Lac-Leamy received Level 3 Certification.
The new BOMA BESt certification program that began this fall is the next evolution of the Go Green and Go Green Plus BOMA
programs. BOMA BESt measures the environmental performance of buildings and provides four possible levels of certification.
Level 1 indicates that a building demonstrates compliance with the basic elements of best practices. Level 2 rewards a clear
desire to engage in better management practices and improved understanding of what is required to reach a higher standard
of performance. Level 3 Certification is awarded to buildings that have been managed with energy and environmental performance
in mind for several years and that satisfy BOMA best practices criteria. Finally, Level 4 is awarded to buildings that display
a high degree of environmental performance and low energy and water consumption.
All of Loto-Québec’s buildings have been certified Go Green since 2006, and five of them have achieved Go Green Plus status.
"Our goal of improving the environmental performance of our buildings is an important part of the sustainable development
policy chosen by Loto-Québec," commented François Lafleur, Corporate Director, Real Estate Operations. "It is our belief that
these measures, which will of course result in significant savings in water and energy, will above assure a better future
for the generations to come."
"Fewer than ten Québec buildings satisfy the stringent Level 3 environmental building management performance criteria," added
Guy Lepage, Administrative Manager at Casino du Lac-Leamy. "We are really proud of having achieved this goal."
BOMA Québec counts some 400 members and represents building owners, real estate management companies and suppliers of goods
and services to the real estate industry. An affiliated member of BOMA Canada and BOMA International, BOMA Québec has a mandate
to train, communicate and represent the interests of its members while promoting effective building management.
