Electronic Texas Hold’em Poker Arrives at Ludoplex Québec, With Tournaments to be Held Each Week Starting May 31
Québec, May 28, 2008 – The Ludoplex Québec inaugurated its brand‑new poker section today containing six electronic Texas Hold’em poker devices. Located on the main
floor of the Québec City gaming hall, these new installations can accommodate 60 players at a time. “The arrival of electronic
Texas Hold’em poker definitely serves to enhance the game offerings at Ludoplex Québec,” underlined the establishment’s General Manager,
Mr. Patrick Lamy. “At the same time, the new installations ensure effective control of the game.”
Special guests and poker enthusiasts in attendance at the launch event had an opportunity to see a demonstration of how the
electronic devices operate, as well as to participate in a friendly tournament. Ludoplex management also announced that, starting
May 31, “Sit’n Go”‑type electronic poker tournaments will be held at the gaming hall every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays
at 11:00 a.m. The electronic poker units will be in operation during the Ludoplex’s normal business hours, from 10:00 a.m.
to 3:00 a.m. daily. A demonstration unit (no cash wagers) will be made available on-site for those new to electronic poker
who wish to learn how to play.
As in the rest of the province, electronic Texas Hold’em poker has become highly popular in Québec City. The many enthusiasts
of the game are certain to enjoy playing in the Ludoplex’s lively and convivial surroundings.
This past April 18, Loto‑Québec announced that it would be withdrawing some 100 video lottery terminals (VLTs) from the Ludoplex
in Québec City and Trois‑Rivières, in order to replace them with electronic Texas Hold’em poker devices so as to channel this
game offering in a more controlled fashion and further reduce the number of VLTs in its network. In so doing, the Ludoplex Québec’s
overall game offerings remain unchanged because, for the 60 playing positions offered by the newly installed electronic poker
devices, an equal number of VLTs were removed.
Since April 1, 2008, management of the Ludoplex Québec and Ludoplex Trois‑Rivières has been assumed by the Société des loteries
vidéo du Québec (SLVQ). A subsidiary of Loto‑Québec created in 1993, the SLVQ is entrusted with a mandate to responsibly market
and manage a network of video lottery terminals installed at numerous establishments that hold a bar, brasserie or tavern
permit and that obtained a site operating license from the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux.
